“I’ve lived here ever since I was a little child. It’s a homey place for me, full of memories with my parents and siblings. I opened Siwon because I wanted to share this place with other people.”
The house used to have several persimmon trees here, which is why it was also known as the “Persimmon Tree House on Ssangsaem alley. Naturally, I was going to name the house the “Persimmon Tree House.” Unfortunately, there were other places already using that name. So, instead, I took the Chinese character for persimmon trees (“Si”) and the character for a house (“Won”).
At Siwon, guests can watch the house and its surroundings change with the seasons. Plum blossoms and magnolias bloom between February and March, followed by peonies and lilacs in April, azaleas in May, greens in June, zinnias and Chinese trumpet vines between July and August, marigolds from September to November, and red sacred bamboo berries in December. You can enjoy a slice of nature throughout the entire year at Siwon.
Step away from the busy street and into the courtyard. The tranquil and comforting ambiance will welcome you to a whole new world.
At Siwon, I hope I can offer my guests a place that reminds them of the homely and warm vibe they felt at their grandmother’s house when they were younger.
