“I always wanted to live in a Hanok house at a Hanok village when I retire. I wanted to show how the architectural technology of our traditional Hanok, which has been refined over thousands of years, can indeed be handed down to future generations and transformed to fit the modern era. And I also wanted to show people just how beautiful Hanok houses could be.”
Guigueraesa is the title of one of Tao Yuanming’s best-known Chinese poems. Tae Yuanming was a Chinese poet who lived a secluded life during the Eastern Jin period. I chose Guigueraesa as the name of my house to symbolize a house in the countryside to live in after retirement.
When you sit down on the wooden porch, you can see the pond and a number of different trees - pine trees, Japanese red pine trees, black bamboo trees, Kousa dogwood trees, and Jujube trees - living in harmony with the Hanok. Here, the house looks different every season. Guigueraesa also has beautiful murals on the wall, and wonderful paintings inside every guest room. Moreover, when the lights are turned on in the evening, each lamp looks like a beautiful moon, which is something unique guests can enjoy at Guigueraesa.
Guigueraesa offers a comfortable stay and atmosphere available only at a beautiful traditional Hanok house.
