At first, I wanted it to be a residential house. Instead of high walls, I desired to surround the place with flowers and trees and be a ground where I could interact with my neighbors. That is how I started Dalbit Hyang.
One day, while I was drinking tea on the porch, I saw the moon moving in the sky and the scent of the garden attracted me. That was an overwhelming moment. So, I named this guesthouse ‘Dalbit Hyang (‘dalbit’ is ‘moonlight’ and ‘hyang’ is ‘scent’ in Korean).’
Although Dalbit Hyang is somewhat distant from the center of Jeonju Hanok Village, there are lots of travelers’ favorite spots nearby: promenades along Jeonjucheon Stream, trails at Chimyeongjasan Mountain, Wansan Chilbong, and Cheongyeonru Pavilion, which is famous for its night scene. Since there are no exterior walls, you can feel the openness. I suggest sitting on the wooden bench under the tree for tea.
Dalbit Hyang is a space where you will be able to relax whenever you visit.
