This house was built in 1943 and underwent only repairs to preserve the old Hanok (traditional Korean house) style. The original frameworks of Hanok, which is used for a guesthouse, and a brick building in front of it, which is used as a gallery and a common area for guests, have been maintained.
I was a sculptor. To celebrate a new chapter in my life, I named my guesthouse ‘Dan Gyeong,’ which means ‘beginning of brightness.’ I also pray that people will get recharged here and move onto their next stage.
Across a charming garden and apricot trees, the old Hanok building and the modern brick building face each other.
I hope you will also be one of those who relax and enjoy the harmony that the two different buildings create.
