Luwa
A whole new style of Hanok for a simple and modern experience at Luwa
“Luwa used to be a workshop where I created my sculptures. I turned it into a Hanok Stay because I wanted to showcase the various sculptures I made and the works of other artists to people visiting the Hanok Village.” As for the name, “Lu” means “sincerity and care” and “Wa” means “roof tiles.” Together, “Luwa” means a “sincere and caring tile-roofed house.” I wanted to show off the beauty of a whole new style of Hanok by carefully crafting each interior piece with my own hands. While taking advantage of a traditional Hanok house, I added some simple and modern touches to create a clean feeling without any unnecessary fat. Art pieces produced by different artists showcased throughout Luwa make the house feel more antique and unique. The view of the Hyanggyo from the bathroom window is another feature our guests can experience only at Luwa. The house also faces south, which means it gets a lot of sunlight. Plenty of our guests have complimented us on how warm and cozy Luwa feels. We offer a place where you can rest and relax comfortably, even if it’s for only a night, in a space prepared just for you. At Luwa, we offer beauty and style that embraces both tradition and modernity.
