Damun
“Damun serves retro Korean cuisine the way it used to be”
“When I was a university student, I enjoyed traditional Pungmul music, painting pictures, and hosted gatherings for writers and poets to discuss our traditional culture. That’s how Damun started. It was a place where people interested in culture and art could come and talk. And what started out as s cultural and artistic space serving tea gradually evolved into today’s Damun, a restaurant serving traditional cuisine.” Damun is a cultural complex that offers a unique blend of traditional Hanok architecture and traditional Korean culture. Patrons can enjoy a variety of performances multiple times a year, enjoy great food, and drink some nice tea. It serves as a gathering place where locals come and relax. At Damun, we like the old things, so we try to keep them as long as there are people who remember them. With food, we also try to prepare dishes the way they were in the past rather than cooking them in a more modern way or serving fusion-style food. We try to serve cold dishes cold and warm dishes warm, as they were meant to be. Each season, we cook healthy food with ingredients sourced locally in Jeonju. It is our dream at Damun to give people a glimpse into the past, and become a place where everyone can create some great memories.
